উপরোক্ত বাক্যগুলোতে দেখা যাচ্ছে word, clause এবং phrase-কে একটি শব্দ দ্বারা যুক্ত করা হয়েছে। সুতরাং বলা যায়, যে parts of speech দুই বা ততোধিক word, phrase, clause বা sentence-কে যুক্ত করে, তাকে Conjunction বলে।
যে conjunction একই ধরনের দুইয়ের অধিক word, phrase, clause-কে যুক্ত করে, তাকে Coordinating Conjunction বলে। And, or, but, nor, for, yet, so etc. এগুলো হল Coordinating Conjunction।

Walk fast or you will miss the train.
Riya loves fried rice and chicken fry.

| Alternative / Disjunctive Conjunction | দুইটি বক্তব্যের যে কোন একটি বক্তব্যকে বেছে নিতে এই Conjunction ব্যবহৃত হয়। Or, neither........nor, either......or, neither, nor, otherwise, els etc. Ex: ⟐ He will eat either rice or fruits for dinner. ⟐ Neither Rohan nor Ahad did this. |
| Adversative Conjunction | দুইটি বক্তব্যের মধ্যে তুলনা বোঝাতে এই Conjunction ব্যবহার করা হয়। But, however, while, only, on the contrary, still, yet, nevertheless, whereas etc. এগুলো হল Adversative Conjunction। Ex: ⟐ The food looks yummy but it is cold. ⟐ She is poor still she is happy. |
| Illative Conjunction | দুইটি বক্তব্যের একটি কারণ ও আরেকটি ফল বোঝালে, তা Illative Conjunction হবে। Therefore, as a result, for, so, consequently, এগুলো হল Illative Conjunction। Ex: ⟐ It was raining, so he took an umbrella. ⟐ Riya drank some water for she was thirsty. |
